Following on from the approach developed in dirigeable, mille mondes examines sound generation through the links between artificial intelligence and real-time sound creation.
In creating mille mondes, Rey was also concerned that his approach should meet and overlap with that of other artists interested in these questions. mille mondes received funding from CNC for the first two residences.

mille mondes is a journey through virtual worlds inhabited by intelligent artificial creatures. These entities each have both sound and gestural identities and tend towards socialization. They are aware of each other, are attracted to one another, reject each other, their energy fluctuates depending on their mood and their main aim consists of expressing their musical qualities together.
